To think that some people discouraged me from training up as an Auror to prepare for a political career. There's truly nothing more political in this climate, as I am discovering more every day! Catering to the bureaucracy, dealing with journalists, taking feedback from the constituency because the "politicians" aren't the ones in the field. If I'm not already practicing politics, well, I don't know what I'm doing out here!
But the greatest political minefield in this line of work is detainment. It's not politically expedient to arrest people who bear certain respected names, but if the evidence is there, you have to manage it anyhow. I'm grateful the Ministry partnered me with someone who has experience in these affairs, who himself has a name that carries a lot of clout. It makes our jobs easier. And small favours, conviction is on another body altogether... although I suppose if the day came that the Wizengamot failed to convict on our evidence, the general public would want for someone to blame-- and it wouldn't be those respected elders in the court.
But truly, this is a rewarding experience. Politics! |
